Evelyn Thomas Zimmerman

Evelyn Thomas Zimmerman, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2 at her home in Ashburn, VA. She was born on July, 8th 1947 in Monticello, Georgia to Henry Courtney Thomas and Lillie Mae Jones Thomas and was the youngest of 11 children.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Zimmerman, Jr; brother James Carroll Thomas; sisters Gladys Woodham, Rose Fuller and Bonnie English; sons Robert and Thomas Zimmerman; grandchildren Brooks and Alexandra Zimmerman.
Evelyn earned her associate degree at Georgia State University. After two years at the Governor of Georgia’s Press Office, she worked as a Flight Attendant at Eastern Airlines. Later, she entered management at American Airlines as a Sales Representative in Washington, D.C. For ten years, Evelyn successfully owned and operated West Market Self Storage in Greensboro, NC. She enjoyed oil painting, exhibiting many of her art works at local shows. Evelyn also loved gardening, yoga, and travel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 2 pm at Money & King, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna, Virginia. Burial will follow at Andrew Chapel Cemetery. The Zimmerman family wishes to extend its gratitude to family, friends, the staff of Loudoun County Hospital and Capital Caring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loudoun Humane Society or American Cancer Society.
