NORMAN E. Franklin (Age 70)
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Norman Elliott Franklin passed away after being rushed to Reston Hospital Center. A dear husband for 42 years of Josephine Bennett Franklin; beloved father of Ryan Franklin of Ashburn, VA, and Kimberly Franklin Bissohong and son-in-law Philippe Bissohong of Silver Spring, MD. Norman is survived by a brother, Ronald, and sister-in-law, Ruby; and a sister, Myra Franklin Cuff and brother-in-law, Carlie Cuff. Norman was a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and current member of the Omicron Kappa Kappa (OKK) Chapter. Norman is a graduate of Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA and Montclair State College in NJ where he began his career as a secondary school social studies teacher. He went on to earn a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Fairleigh Dickinson University and was recruited as a Presidential Management Intern by the federal government. Norman retired in 2010 after 31 years of federal service.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the United Christian Parish of Reston on Thursday, April 26 at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Norman’s name to the OKK Foundation, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, P.O. Box 2252, Reston, VA 20195 to support educational student scholarships.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Norm’s death. He was always so kind and helpful. I appreciated all the times he pitched in to usher at church even when it wasn’t his week. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jo, and the family at this difficult time.
I am blessed to have ushered with Norman at church, a humble and warm greeter to all and visitors. My deepest sympathy to Jo and family, may Norman soul Rest In Peace??????
Multiple times Norman visited his sister and her family in Rochester, NY. Myra would share stories about what a wonderful big brother he was. In their earlier years in NJ while growing up how he looked out for her as both of her big brothers would often do. Norman was a nice man who loved his family, and would laugh about the good times they shared.
Jo, what a shock–I am so sad for you and your family and our church family. I always enjoyed Norm’s warm, friendly smile at UCP. You are in my heart and prayers as you deal with this devastating loss.
I’m so sorry for your recent loss. My deepest condolences to your family. Death of a loved one is always hard to endure, but you don’t have to go through it alone. You can always find comfort in our God of tender mercy Jehovah, as found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.

My Dear1st cousin Norman, our fathers were brothers; we shared so many good times and so many fond memories of our early, growing years which are engraved in my life’s journey. I will sorely miss you at our family gatherings, your smile, your jovial nature, your sincerity. But one day we will recapture the joy of our family bliss as you are doing now soaring to the ancestors.
To our dear friends, Jo & family – Norm will always be in a special place in our hearts and memories that are covered with his wonderful smile and astounding personality. We’ll miss him, but we know that he was a big conduit in your family. May he reign on in your hearts and may his legacy be forever enduring. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Ryan, Kim, and the Franklin family in the passing of your beloved husband, and our dear friend, NORMAN (NORM) FRANKLIN. May it rest in your spirit that the God we serve has everything in perfect balance and control according to His master plan and His resurrection power. God makes no mistakes and has no errors in His master plan for our lives. We are to trust Him and be confident that He knows what is best for each of us in all seasons of life, even death.
Scripture tells us in Hebrews 12:2 that Jesus, who sits at the right-hand of the throne of God, is ‘the author and finisher of our faith’. Jesus also interceded in prayer (John 17:24) on our behalf, as believers today, that ‘we may be with Him where He is’ to behold and share His glory. So, we rejoice and celebrate the life and legacy of NORM FRANKLIN knowing he has a secure, eternal home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His earthly walk with God has been fulfilled in and through the life he lived and through those he touched along the way in accordance with the divine plan God predestined for his life in Jeremiah 29:11.
We have been truly blessed and are grateful to God for being counted in that number NORM has touched along the way in his journey through this life. May the love of God and the cherished memories NORM leaves behind strengthen and keep you and the family as you go through this valley. Know that God is with you always, even to the end of the age – ‘Be strong and of good courage … He will not leave you nor forsake you’ _Deuteronomy 31:6.

Norm’s contagious smile and his wisdom and understanding of the many issues of today and times past will be truly missed in his men’s ‘breakfast group’.
