Thomas Richard “Dick” Bisset, age 91, of Arlington, Virginia, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Dick was born on January 26, 1927 in Washington, DC to Peter Bisset and Ellen (Tongue) Bisset. He grew up in the Washington, DC area, attending St. Albans School and graduating from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1944. At 17, he joined the US Navy and served in the Fire Control Division on the USS Nevada in the Pacific arena of World War II. After the war, he attended Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park, Maryland, and began his 45-year career with PEPCO.
On July 4, 1946, he met Anne Elise Fox of Arlington, Virginia, and on February 2, 1947, they wed at the First Baptist Church of Clarendon. Dick served as a deacon in the church and also was a longtime member of Columbia Lodge #285, Arlington, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Pete. Dick is survived by his wife Anne; their daughter Selena Suzanne Marie Bisset Carpenter Fox and her husband Dennis Carpenter; daughter Sandra Lee Bisset and her husband Harvey; and daughter Brenda Jane Bisset. Additionally, he is survived by five grandchildren (Richard, Melanie, Lisa, Jennifer, and Jason), five great-grandchildren (Adrian, Elizabeth, Sadie, Rebecca, and Julia), his sister Nina (Bisset) Namoski, and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
A funeral will be held on Friday, March 9 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Vienna, Virginia. A visitation will begin at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall, with light refreshments served. The funeral service will follow immediately in the Sanctuary at 11:30am. The service will be followed by burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington. Arrangements by Money & King Funeral Home, Vienna. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dick Bisset may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.

My grandfather was so special to me – we were close friends, and I will greatly miss him.
I am a friend of the family. I met Mr Bisset’s daughter Sandra in the eighth grade in 1964 and we have been friends ever since. Mr Bisset was a wonderful husband, Dad, granddad and great grandfather. He was a disciple of Christ and it showed! He has now entered his Heavenly home and has seen Jesus face to face!! Friends and family will be reunited with him some day. God is saying: Well done, my good and faithful servant!! Enjoy your new life, Mr Bisset. You deserve it! Sincerely, Angela Dinkle
I was sad to read of the death of Mr. Bisset. I remember him well from First Baptist Church of Clarendon. My heart and prayers go out to Anne, Suzanne, Sandra, and all those who loved him.
I knew Dick from his last years spent at Arden Courts, an assisted living facility. I saw Dick everyday because he shared a table there with my husband, Paul. I can truly say he kept his beautiful spirit up to the very end. Dick was always thinking about other people and kept very high standards for himself. He was constantly concerned about doing what was right. He was sweet, polite, and mannerly in a way we see all too seldom these days. I’d say Dick was a gentleman of “the old school” that tried to so what was expected of him and please the people he loved. He often mentioned his wife Anne and his brother Pete. I will truly miss Dick. My visits to Arden will not be the same without him. Carla Steckley
