Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 5:50pm Agnes Flores Thomas passed away peacefully with her beloved husband Edwin H. Thomas, Jr. and her devoted daughter Safiya Peterson by her side.
Agnes was born December 15, 1945 in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Gregorio B. Flores and Julia Estavillo Flores. She is predeceased by her parents and a younger brother, George Flores and survived by two older sisters, Lorna Ignacio and Estrella Kho, her husband, her daughter and two grandchildren, Hidayah Williams and Israel Peterson.
For over a year Agnes fought a valiant battle against a very aggressive cancer with the disease eventually taking her life, but it could not extinguish her incredible spirit. Her work with the Department of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of the Philippines brought Agnes to the Washington DC area where she touched many lives. Agnes was a friend to all, and a very dear and close friend to the Sinon, Perico, Paynor, Maglaya, Abundo, Diamante and Alvarez families. It was a given that Agnes would be present for all of life's milestones and would create tremendous anticipation with her thoughtful gifts; she was Ate to the families, Tita to all of the kids and Ninang to several of the kids. In marriage Agnes joined the Thomas family', by whom she is truly and deeply loved. Agnes was an angel on earth, who touched the hearts of many. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Arrangements have been made for visitation Friday, July 19th, 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue Vienna, Virginia 22180 (703-938-7440).
Saturday, July 20th, 10:30am, starts with visitation for one hour followed by Memorial services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12975 Purcell Road, Manassas, Virginia 20112 (703-590-0030).
