On November 15, 2025, we said goodbye to Alberdina Rhatigan, known to everyone as Diny, and Oma to her grandchildren, who passed away on her 81st birthday. Diny was a kind and generous soul, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, caring, warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Diny was born in 1944, in her hometown of Gieten, in the Netherlands. In 1971, she married the love of her life, Donald Rhatigan, who passed away in 2008. Throughout their 37 years of marriage, they lived and travelled all over the world, touching the lives of everyone they met.
She is survived by her two sons, Marc of Vienna, Virginia, and Bobby of Great Falls, Virginia, her daughter in-law Meghan, her three grandchildren—Colton, Braden, and Liam— and her two brothers, Jan and Henk, and their wives, Gina and Rika, who still reside in her hometown and all who remained very close to her throughout her life despite the distance.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held on December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Great Falls United Methodist Church in Great Falls, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a reception at The Old Brogue Pub, where memories may be shared and her life celebrated.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her beloved Don, and they remain grateful for the love and kindness she brought into the world. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Allthough we didn’t see or speak eachother often, we enjoyed the visits from aunt Diny in Gieten (NL) and iT was beautiful to see how she loved the kids, especially our daughter L’eau (probably because there were only boys here ;-)) We remember her as a very warm person and wish anyone close by a lot of strenght and love,
Michel, Martine and L’eau
