Albert Nicholas Zodun
February 1, 1953 ~ October 5, 2025
Albert Nicholas Zodun (Al) of Falls Church, VA passed away unexpectedly at home of natural causes on October 5th, 2025 at the age of 72. Al was born February 1, 1953 in North Carolina to Jane Elizabeth Newell and Nicholas Zodun.
After attending Virginia Commonwealth University, Al spent most of his career working for WRC-TV NBC4 in Washington, DC. as a broadcast engineer. He covered local events and larger international stories in Africa, China, and England. He was an active member of Sons of the American Legion Posts in Fairfax and Ballston as well as the VFW and Moose Lodge. His major hobby was Amerateur Radio (Call Signs KK4XB and K4ZB).
He is pre-deceased by his mother and father. Al is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Zodun (Creech) and son-in-law Brett Creech and Son Michael Zodun and daughter-in-law Stephanie, along with several grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jonathan Edward Zodun of Goldsboro, NC and nephew Jonathan Edward Zodun II (Deuce).
A memorial gathering will be held at Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna, VA on October 17th, 2025 from 6-8pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (4101 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304 – 703-746-4774) or American Legion Post 177 (3939 Oak St., Fairfax, VA 22030 – 703-273-2250). A private family burial will be held at a later date in North Carolina.

i will never forget Al’s advice on what restaurants to go to and what to order. He was right. Al knew food. And he had tons of tips on cooking. I always listened because I knew he knew what he was talking about.
You sure left a big hole here. Nobody can fill your HAM Radio shoes. What will we do without you? Pray the repeater does not go down! We really miss you at American Legion Post 177 too! Everybody is asking about you.
We are all stunned. I hope that you are in the arms of Jesus and passed the mustard to get into heaven. Send me a sign, will you please? Miss you!
