March 3, 1926 ~ March 14, 2026

Born in: Washington, DC
Resided in: Oakton, VA

Patsy Price was born as Anna Pauline Cummins, on 3 MAR 1926, in Washington DC, daughter of Mary (nee Kenyon) and Elmer Cummins. Her parents separated when she was very young, and Patsy and her mother Mary returned to the house her grandfather had built in Oakton, in an oak grove the little town was named for, adjacent to the ancient oak on Hunter Mill Road, and across Chain Bridge Road from the Methodist church.

Except for the time she spent raising her children in Clifton and Manassas, she lived in that house the rest of her life. She died in her own bed on 14 MAR 2026, at the age of 100 years.

How Patsy got her childhood nickname is lost to time. She was Patsy Ann until she was married, and decided to use her given name for the event. Most of her friends and kin knew her as Patsy.

When Patsy was young, the property was a small farm. They had a garden, and a nearby strawberry patch. The barn housed a cow, and sometimes a calf or two. There were chickens, all of them with names she gave them. She had a rooster named Soldier Boy, who would jump through her circled arms. Her early contact with farm animals launched a lifetime of kindness to all animals. Over her life she supported innumerable cats and dogs.

Patsy attended Oakton Elementary, and graduated Fairfax High School in 1943, in the midst of wartime. She attended Strayers Business College in Washington, and later in life took classes at the Northern Virginia Community College.

She was a lifelong member of the Oakton Methodist Church. In her teens, she played piano for the congregation. She was also an Honored Queen with Jobs Daughters.

Patsy married Neil Price in 1946, in the Oakton Methodist Church. The building overflowed. Neil and Patsy had five children: Michael Glendon Price, Terry Jo Miller with her husband Mike, Donald Kell Price with partner Lucille Schacht, Kenyon Price with wife Jill, and Stevi Ann Bailie. Neil and Patsy later divorced and remained lifelong friends. Neil predeceased Patsy in 1990.

After her children were raised, Patsy returned to work as personal secretary to the Prince William County Executive Officer.

Patsy returned to the Oakton house, across from the church, in the 1980s, when her mother was quite ill. She and her mother moved the house about a half mile from the original site on Chain Bridge Road to its current location on Miller Road.

Patsy was an optimist, a person of unfailing good humor, always looking at the good in things, events, and people. She was a friend to everyone.

Life landed lightly on her shoulders. She wandered happily in this world. Her memories were always golden.

Patsy is survived by all her five children, as well as eleven grandchildren: Joey Havlock with his wife Rhonda, Tammy Jo Kirby with husband Derek, Ben Miller with wife Kendra, Donald Duran Price with partner Janelle Kennedy, Wayne Miller, Devon Neil Price, Dallas Price, Sarah Fox Price Smith with husband Benjamin, Holland Price, and Isabella Price. There are also ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Patsy planted jonquils and irises, that still return, every year in spring and early summer.
