On Thursday, may 17, 2016, wife, mother and grandmother, Anthea departed peacefully at home in McLean, Virginia with her family by her side.
Born in Tanzania in 1949, Anthea grew up and attended school in East Africa and England. Anthea married Julian in 1973, moving to Arlington, VA while he worked in the World Bank and she in the IMF. Julians work then took them to Kenya for seven years, and the family returned to Virginia in 1984. Anthea loved traveling, reading and playing Scrabble and tennis and took wonderful care of her family. She was preceded in death by parents Austin and Cecile Jackson and brother Hugh (all of England). Anthea is survived by husband Anthony Julian; children Antonia (Ryan Grisard), Bryony, Robert and Katherine; grandchildren, Austin, Liam and Charlotte and family in Britain, South Africa and Australia.
A memorial service and reception will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church, McLean, Virginia on Friday, June 3, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Public Radio WAMU, 202-885-1252 or email membership@wamu.org.
