Aubrey Jackson Farley
October 16, 1911 ~ December 27, 2009
Aubrey Jackson Farley, Project Engineer for the Virginia Department of Highways from 1937-1977, died December 27, 2009. He was a native of Lancaster, Virginia. After attending Fork Union Military Academy & Washington & Lee University, his continuous service with the Department was interrupted only when he served as First Lieutenant with the Air Corps Aviation Engineers from 1941-1946 in New Guinea, Luzon & Kure, Japan. He went to Hiroshima one month after the city's destruction by the nuclear bomb. He moved to McLean, Virginia in 1954 & since his retirement in 1977, has remained an avid gardener, with carving & woodworking as an added hobby. Survivors include his wife, the former Rosalind Decker; one son, Robert Jackson Farley; & two grandchildren of North Potomac, Maryland.
