On Monday, January 30 in Ashburn, Virginia. Beloved wife of 65 years to the late William Curtis Hall; loving mother to Linda Hall Powell, Patricia Ann McGough (Rick) and William Curtis Hall Jr. (Rima). She was an adoring grandmother to Jennifer Powell Lipnickey (Chris), Kathryn Powell Ramirez (Alex), Kevin Billings, Amanda Billings, Kristina Hall, William Hall and Michael Hall; great-grandmother to Amy and Nathan Lipnickey, Izabelle and James Ramirez. She leaves behind her caring sister Elizabeth Rivenburgh Mayer (John), sister-in-law Barbara Hall Jennings and brother-in-law Brucks Hall. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Rivenburgh Crouch. She leaves behind nephews and nieces and loving friends.
Born in 1922 in Philmont, New York, Barbara moved to Washington, DC with her father and mother, Dexter Rivenburgh and Charlotte Vedder Rivenburgh in 1938. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Maryland where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority (Beta, Beta chapter).
Her job during the war years was at the Bureau of Standards. She married William Hall in 1946. In 1952 she moved to Wheaton, Maryland with her family. She was active in the Wheaton Ballroom Dancing Association and at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. She retired with her husband to Keswick, Virginia in 1993. Barbara moved to Ashburn, Virginia in 2012 after his death.
She is remembered by family and friends as a gracious hostess, a loyal friend and a lover of music. She was an accomplished piano and organ musician and ceramic artist.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's name may be made to George Mason Center for the Arts, 4400 University Drive, Mailstop 4C1, Fairfax, VA 22030.
The family will host a memorial service at a later date. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
