Bud was a generation older – shared many stories from WW II, and from his wide experiences in life. He was a great friend.
I met Bud at the SF Examiner copydesk in l96l. He was the dealer and I was on the rim. We became close friends. Bud became a fulltime journalism faculty member in l966. We taught together until Bud retired. We also played a lot of tennis together and hiked on the weekends. Bud and Georgette invited me to join them on Bud’s Fulbright sabbatical in Jamaica. We swam together in the ocean and many pools. We were close buddies for many years. We knew them first in Palo Alto. They became longtime neighbors in San Francisco. We missed them in both Washington state and D.C.. Bud will always be close to my heart.
