On Friday May 6th, 2016 Betty Ann Shipley Shelton Childress Ermel of Vienna Virginia, age 66, passed away 8:45am at Fairfax Hospital.

Betty is survived by her husband Michael Richard Ermel of Vienna Virginia, her Mother Anna Mae Lafollette Shipley Pesut of Afton, TN; and one son. Matthew Shelton (Tanya) of Centreville, VA., two daughters Andrea Childress Leger of Middletown, VA., and Rachael Childress Nagle (Justin) of Wilmington, DE. Betty had ten grandchildren, Rebecca Shelton, Anna Shelton, Victoria Rice, Samantha Rice, Emily Aker Leger, Lucas Parrish, Zachari Leger, Brooklyn Lind, Gianna Nagle and Robert Nagle. one brother TImothy Lee Shipley of Greeneville, TN., three sisters, Sharon Haggerty (Neil), of Adamstown, MD. Teresa Morrow (Bill) of Limestone, TN., her sister Sonja (more like a daughter to her) Keith Dorland, and their five children were more like Betty's own grandkids, Jonathan, Stephen, Adam, Katlyn and Joshua Dorland all of Woodbridge, VA. Other nieces and nephews are: Stephanie Rice Garland, Sarah Morrow Briggs Price, James Morrow, Christopher Michael Shipley, Timothy Jay Shipley, Hannah Shipley, Lydia Shipley and Whitney Shipley. Seven great nieces and nephews. A special Aunt and Uncle were Rufus (Doc) and Alice LaFollette.

She is preceded in death by her father Lloyd Perry Shipley, her brother Michael Perry Shipley,

Betty moved to Northern Virginia 30 years ago. She started a home cleaning service, worked @ JC Penney in the catalog department and later retired to spend more time with her husband Michael and her kids and grandkids.

Betty was a kind and giving woman, she was a deeply loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

A memorial is scheduled for Thursday May 12th from 12-2pm

at Money and King Funeral Home 171 Maple Ave W. Vienna VA 22180

She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
