It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Betty Lois (neeTodd) Frederick on April 21, 2026. Born on February 17, 1937, to Hazel Bishop and Burnis Elmer Todd of Maud, Alabama, Betty lived a life defined by her devotion to her faith, family, dear friends and her career in nutrition.
Betty was raised on a farm in North Alabama alongside her four brothers. While attending Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee, she met the love of her life, Doyle Frederick, whom she married in 1957. Betty later earned a degree in Nutrition from Northern Virginia Community College and went on to a successful career leading the food service divisions at The Baptist Home and Thomas House in Washington, D.C. Doyle and Betty were truly special together. Our hearts are blessed knowing they are reunited once again.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents; and her brothers, Harold, Roe, and Roy Todd. She is survived by her brother, Charles Todd (Jeanette); sons, Michael (Jane) and Jeff; her grandchildren, Jana Frederick (David Reyes), Jessica Maffett, Zac Frederick, Carly Frederick (Alex Lowe), and Camryn Frederick; and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Norah Maffett, Frederick and Zoe Sanders, and Sara Jane Reyes Frederick. Throughout her life, her genuine concern for others earned her many lifelong friends and a deeply devoted family. The family gives special thanks to Betty’s long term caregiver Nelly Herrada.
