January 2, 1933 ~ February 28, 2026

Born in: Troy, NY
Resided in: Fairfax, VA

Betsy, as called by those who knew her, was born on January 2, 1933 in Troy, NY, where she spent her childhood. She attended the College of St. Rose, where she got a Bachelor of Science nursing degree and became an RN, something she was fiercely proud of. She then married her college sweetheart, Don, and her new life took her to Metuchen, NJ. It was here where she raised her family and lived for over 65 years.

Betsy was a lifelong devout Catholic and a communicant of the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen. Throughout the years, her life was blessed with travel all over the world as well as summers at her beloved Long Beach Island with family and friends always present. She will forever be remembered as the hostess of the “Christmas House” where many traditions and memories were made with family and extended family members around the table. Of course, her greatest joy was the time spent doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Well, that and her 5:00 glass of white wine…with ice!

She moved to Fairfax, VA two years ago and died peacefully at age 93 on February 28, 2026.

Betsy was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald; her parents, Marguerite and Lloyd Bingham; and her sister, Barbara Hayden.

Surviving are her children: Stephen (Irene) of Vienna, VA, Beverly (Greg) of Columbia, MD, Richard (Tricia) of Annandale, VA and Maribeth of Ridgewood, NJ. She was blessed to have 10 grandchildren: Bill (Denise), Jamie (Jessica), Jennifer, Scott (Ariya), Abigail, Christopher (Jena), Gianna, Joseph, Laura and James, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as her brother, Ned Bingham.
