Bill Gene Upton, 86, died Tuesday,
September 12th, 2017 in Sterling Virginia due to illness. Bill died with his loving wife by his side.
Memorial with Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held October 21st, 2 pm at Sharon Masonic Lodge, 999 Balls Hill Road, McLean VA, 22102. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday May 18th at 3:00pm. Friends and family are welcome at both services.
Bill was born in Porum, Oklahoma to Evert and Erma Upton along with three brothers and a sister. Bill married Hazel Wilson in 1951 while serving in the US Army, as a meat cutter. Nine years later, he joined the US Air Force as a Reciprocating Engine Technician. After retiring from the military, Bill worked for the US Postal Service and retired a second time. Bill then worked as a bus driver for Fairfax CUE bus, retiring once again to travel with his beloved family.
He was a member and Past Master of Sharon Masonic Lodge #327, AF Past Patron of Unity Chapter #201, Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Hillbilly Unit of Kena Shriners in Fairfax, VA.
Bill was an avid traveler and visited all fifty states with his beloved wife, most in their RV. Bill will also be remembered for his love of fishing, family card games, home gardening and reading.
Bill is survived by his Wife, Hazel Upton, son, Sam Upton with wife Kendra of Jacksonville, FL and daughter Vallery Morgan (Gerard Dana) of Gainesville, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas Morgan with wife Ginger Walker of Concord CA, Danielle Morgan Smith with husband Aaron, Owings Mills MD and Anne Lemmers Brown with husband Jeff and their children Nicholas and Reagan of Blacksburg, VA.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sharon Masonic Lodge’s Educational Fund or Shriner’s Hospital via Kena Temple.
