  5. I served as Weapons Officer on the Lockwood under Capt. Kesteloot’s command in 1972-73. He was the finest CO I served under, a terrific leader and mentor. He challenged the crew to be the best and supported our efforts, providing opportunities not available at other commands. The lessons he taught me served me well throughout my career. Some of my most memorable sea stories occurred during my tour with the Captain and I will remember him with great fondness and respect. Pete Bishop, CDR USN (ret)

  6. I served with Bob in USS PRICHETT (DD-561)1957-59, a first tour of duty for both of us. Although our paths never crossed again, my memories of those years stand out as challenging and fun. Bob was an impressive officer, full of self-confidence, a fine ship-handler and a good friend. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

  7. Dear Julie and family, Bob and I are so saddened by Bob’s passing. I hope in the time of sorrow you can think of the wonderful life you two shared and all the love you had for each other over the years. May God bless you and your family, Bob and Connie Sampsell

  8. I served with LTJG Kesteloot in USS PRICHETT (DD-561)1958-59, my first tour of duty as a 18 year-old Radioman Seaman. I remember him as energetic, impressive and a model officer. Serving for and with such a fine individual meant a lot and influenced me to “stay navy” and complete a 30 year career. Please accept my heartfelt condolences in this hour of sorrow. Tom Chaudoin, CWO4, USN, Retired Sep 29, 2011 San Diego, CA

  9. Dear Julie: As your “Southern California” family, we all want to send you our sincere condolences and deep sorrow for your loss. 10. Bob was such a dynamic presence here in our community. He was always ready to help when the need arose. We will all miss his cheery smile and we say “Thanks be to God”for his touching our lives in so many ways. Love to you and your fmily Julie.
