My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and always.
Many fond memories. Rest in peace Carl. Bill Kowall VQ-2
CB was my college roommate and longtime friend. We were both from Florida, loved the Bucs and academically made the top two thirds of our class possible 🙂 CB had an enduring sense of adventure, thrill for a challenge and a distain for authority figures. Ironically, after graduation, CB went on to become an incredibly successful junior officer both on minesweeper ships and in aviation squadrons. I was there the day CB met his wife Betty, a woman of charm and uncommon elegance. I was honored to be best man at their wedding and watched them over the years raise a wonderful family. I will miss Carl Brenn Sutterhis devil-may-care smile, quick wit and story-telling. But I will carry the memories of CB and our Mach One rides, over-the-wall escapes, and aviation adventures. And those memories make me smile. God Bless CB and his family, he will be missed.
Very sad to hear this news. Many great memories of Carl. He was a student at Corry Station when I was an instructor and we were later stationed together in Hawaii (VPU-2). My thoughts and prayers are with him, Betty and the whole family during this difficult time.
To the family of CB Sutter, My prayers and thoughts go out to you. CB was in in my plebe summer company (Delta Co – 7th and 8th co) and the 7th co had many of the best, well-rounded midshipmen at USNA, CB among them.
Prayers for all of CB’s family. I was a member of 8th company at USNA class of ’80 and remember Carl as being cheerful and positive, and a great classmate.
Carl and I are classmates. We share the bond of attending and graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy. My wish is that Carl’s family gain comfort in knowing that Carl is in a better place without any pain or suffering.
Natale and I were so sorry to hear about CB. Let us pass on our condolences for your loss. I had not seen Carl in years, but our time at the Academy and in the squadron will be fond memories that I will never forget. Our prayers go out to you and the rest of the family. Bill and Natalie
Betty, I just heard the news about CBs passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Carl and I were classmates in 7th Co. I havent seen Carl since we graduated but always remember his infectious smile and sense of humor. I wish you happy memories. In sympathy,
I was Commanding Officer of the USS ENGAGE (MSO-433) and Carl was my Executive Officer. His exuberance and enthusiasm helped us all to enjoy each day. A fine young man and an outstanding Naval Officer. Cindy and I express our deepest sympathy to Betty and the rest of Carl’s family. I have only the fondest of memories of Carl and will treasure them always.
Betty, we share your loss and were quite surprised to hear of Carl’s passing. The Navy bonds are strong and Cindy and I well remember the two of you from our shared days on USS ENGAGE. May you find peace in knowing you are loved and Carl is well remembered.
Dan, No words can describe how grateful I am to have met and worked with you. I remember very vividly our four-hour interview during which you asked not what my skills and or knowledge I possessed to do the job were, rather we talked about our past life experiences. Little did I know that you had me figured out right away. Thank you Dan, for giving me a chance, for mentoring me, for showing me the ropes, and for your continued support throughout. I wish you were still with us. I wish you were here to bounce off ideas with, to innovate they way you were so prolific at. I miss you Dan, and I hope that wherever you are now, you find peace, love and harmony. So long my friend.
I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure you have many fine memories of your loved one that will bring you a measure of comfort during these trying times. Our loving heavenly Father is the “God of all comfort” and he can and will help you through this difficult time because “he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
Betty – Just read of Carl’s passing in shipmate. So sorry for your loss, but proud to have known him and flown with him. Some of my best “JO” stories involve Carl.
