Carmelo ‘Carl’ Sergi, 75, of Oak Hill, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2025 after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

Carl was born in Nizza, Sicily on April 13, 1949, to Sebastiano Sergi and Angela Santisi. He was raised in Milan, Italy until the age of 9 when the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Hyattsville, Maryland.

A veteran of the National Airforce Reserve and an alumnus of the University of Maryland, Carl practiced as a respected Certified Public Accountant out of Tysons Corner, Virginia, serving his entrusted clients in the broader DMV area for most of his adult life.

On March 22, 1977, Carl was united into marriage with Karen Lea Kranz. He was a devoted father to his children Heather and David, and grandchildren Willow and Jasper. He is also survived by his siblings Tony, Tina, and Domenic, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Our hearts go out to his family and we will always think of him with love and fond memories. He was not only our beloved cousin, he was a great friend who we enjoyed wonderful times with throughout the years. We’ll miss him!!
