Carol Ann Orndorff (nee Raines), 75, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away at Fair Oaks Hospital, Tuesday, November 2, 2011. Cause of death was heart failure as a result of complications of diabetes.

Mrs. Orndorff was born on July 18, 1936 in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Willard C. and Rebecca V. Raines. She was a graduate of Falls Church High School and attended the Westminster Choir College.

Mrs. Orndorff worked for the Department of the Navy from 1956 until 1970, leaving to work as a legal secretary for two different law firms. She was hired by the Town of Vienna in 1985 and was appointed Town Clerk in 1987 where she served the Town until her retirement in 2009.

Mrs. Orndorff is survived by her son, Vienna Town Councilman Michael Polychrones and his wife, Patti; a grand dog (Dancer); brother Glenn Settle of Warsaw, Virginia and his wife Lynn; brothers-in-law, Perry Polychrones and George Polychrones, cousins, Sharon Skinner, Bobby Skinner, Kathy Reese (Rich) numerous second cousins, nieces and nephews, step-nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Along with her family, she is survived by a large circle of friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Mrs. Orndorff was predeceased in death by her husband, Frank Orndorff, as well as her former husband, John Polychrones and brother-in-law, C. Michael Polychrones.

A reception will follow at the home Michael and Patti Polychrones immediately following burial.
