There are very few memories of my childhood that do not include your family. I will never forget the mornings coming over to get Susan to walk to school. Your mom made sure all of you had a good breakfast. All the trips to Lake of the Woods. Your mom rescued me from school when I had an ear infection, and my mom was not around to do it. Endless field trips, Girl Scout outings, and all the Birthday parties. I remember going to Glen Echo with all of you and Seneca to be with the Clarke cousins on a speed boat. And of course, her most loyal, loving Champ right there! And who on earth did not love Carole Amato’s famous Lasagna?!? Even my mom loved it and made it for the rave reviews it got.
Your mom was just such a sweet, beautiful soul, and boy was she adored. I know that for the last few years, all have had a tough time with her in care, but she was cared for well, and she was allowed to leave feeling comforted.
God bless that she is in a better place and finding her parents and her brother Richard, and even maybe your Dad to share a laugh and a smile.
With deep sympathy and prayers.

So fortunate to have met Mrs. Amato back in 1970 when I was ten years old and then had the beautiful experience of family interactions over the next 15 years or so. My Dad was in Mr. Amato’s monthly poker group, and then we built a house down at Lake of the Woods. Lee Elder was our golf pro, Joe Gibbs our neighbor, and the Amato’s were our best friends. Funny when I think of Our Lady of Victory, Mrs. Amato was the perfect mother, and also great friend of our family. So many stories. Laughter. Good food. Fun fishing and water skiing. Lots of peace and love and smiles and happiness.
