  1. I have lost an extraordinary cousin and a truly great and close friend. We had lots of laughs and many discussions, even arguments, about many things. Things just got livelier in the Great Beyond. We will miss you dearly. We will do our best to support your family in the future. With love…

  2. I was on a destructive path. I had several attorneys by the age of 18. But Charles was the first to pull me aside and give me words of encouragement. Charles represented me throughout my life. At 29 I called on him one last time. For what was the scariest fight for my life in court. When the detectives lied during one preliminary by saying I didn’t ask for my lawyer seven times, Charles said something I’ll remember till the day I die. “Your honor, I have known my client for over a decade and have represented him on numerous occasions. My client has no history of cooperating with law enforcement. I find it astonishing that there are over 70 hours invested in investigating my client. But there is absolutely no video of the arrest, no audio of the 6 hours they attempted to interrogate my client. And no video of the interrogation. I believe my client asked for me and I believe they denied his right to remain silent, and I would ask the court to address this. The judge called on the lead detective and simply asked him why there were no records audio or video. The detective turned pale and said “our cameras weren’t working that day”. Judge: “case dismissed”! That was one charge. Charles had multiple thrown out in the same fashion. After our victory’s. Charles met with the detectives. They asked him to ask me one question, how I did I know? Charles didn’t bother entertaining the idea of wanting an answer, he simply said. Daniel, they are pissed, you embarrassed them. It’s time to leave. Go start your life over and move on. Well Charles I looked you up to tell you I listened to you, I left. I traveled to North Dakota during the boom and did so well I stayed employed during the whole bust. I turned my entire life around, by leaving and just starting over. Forgetting about all the bad and focusing on my own children and my role in life. Today my son is attending Penn State, my other just finished a contract with the Marine Corps and my little one… well I went to court and won full custody of him. And he’s following in his brothers footsteps. I wanted to say thank you for always being there when I called. For having the courage to coach me through a rotten court system, and most of all for caring about me. You are my friend and my hero. Thank you Charles.
    Your boy,
    Dan
