Charles “Chuck” Kelleher of Chantilly, VA, an Army veteran who worked as a retail manager for J.C. Penney in Northern Virginia for many years, died July 30th of respiratory failure. He was 83.

Chuck was born January 27, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, at the now closed Royal Hospital. He was the youngest of five children born to Charles and Josephine (Meaney) Kelleher. Both of his parents were immigrants from Ireland who raised their family in New York City.

Kelleher graduated from the now closed Annunciation School on West 131st St in Manhattan and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years.

Kelleher worked for Macys in Manhattan for some years before moving to J.C. Penney. He worked in stores in Michigan and Ohio prior to finally moving to Northern Virginia.

He is survived by two sons, James and Todd. A third son Michael, died earlier. He had several grandchildren and on great-granddaughter. His sister, Mary Bowe of Pearl River, NY, is the only surviving sibling. His brothers James, Gerry, and John, died earlier.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 24th from 2pm to 4pm with another visitation from 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following day on Friday, August 25th at 10:30am at Saint Thomas à Becket Catholic Church, 1421 Wiehle Ave, Reston, VA. Burial will take place after at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA.
