She was a devoted teacher in Fairfax County Schools, traveled extensively, and was very involved in the Sigma Kappa Sorority and THIS for Diplomats. She spent summer and winter vacations in Shrewsbury, VT where she was active in the community. During her last years she greatly appreciated the visits and food from her family, friends, neighbors and church; it made a trying time satisfying. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. On behalf of the Shrewsbury Historical Society, we want to offer our sincere condolences to Claire’s family. She was a Life Member of the Society and enjoyed attending meetings during her summers in Vermont. Claire was a special lady with a sweet smile. Ruth and Con Winkler for the Shrewsbury Historical Society.

  2. I am thankful for the many memories that our 48 year friendship brought. May Claire finally have the peace she so deserves; there is no doubt that she gave the battle for life her all. Love, Twister

  3. I knew Claire mostly from a book club we both attended, as well as from church. Claire never missed a meeting if she could possibly help it, and, when the rest of the group would wander off track in 100 different tangents, it was always Claire, ever the teacher, who gently brought us back to the book. The club will not be the same without her.
