Col. Ray L. "Pete" Burnell

Col. Ray L. "Pete" Burnell, 91, peacefully passed away in his home in McLean, Va., on Monday, April 3, 2017 from cancer. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, class of 1946. Beloved husband of Kathlyn C. Burnell, loving stepfather to Will (Marilyn) Cantrell and Emma Lea (Doug Buettgenbach) Moorman and loving uncle to many nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15th at 1:00 PM at Garfield Memorial Christian Church, 1731 Great Falls St., McLean, Va. A burial service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in honor of Ray Burnell to USMA, payable to WPAOG-Dept of Foreign Languages Fund, Gift Operations c/o Troy Schnack, WPAOG, 698 Mills Rd., West Point, NY 10996 or to Garfield Memorial Christian Church, 1731 Great Falls St., McLean, Va 22101.
