Colleen Louise O’Rear Lewis passed away at her home in McLean, Virginia on February 9.
Born on December 15, 1932 in Winchester, Virginia, she was the eldest child of Dayton and Levelda O’Rear. In 1940, she and her family moved to Arlington, Virginia, where she completed her public education. She went on to graduate from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a degree in Economics and Business Administration.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Robert Lewis, and her brother, Charles O’Rear. She leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Robert Lewis, Jr. of Sterling, Virginia and his wife, Dorothy Lewis, Timothy Lewis of Hume, Virginia and his wife, Babette Husson, and Kathleen Doyon of Winchester, Virginia and her husband, Mark Doyon. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Elizabeth Lewis of Sterling, Virginia, Christopher Lewis of Tokyo, Japan, Alison Doyon of Irvine, California, Matthew Doyon of Tampa, Florida, and Kimberly Lewis of Delaplane, Virginia. She also leaves behind her sister, Kathleen Smith of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and husband, Dannie Smith, as well as a niece and three nephews.
As a teenager in 1947, Colleen became a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia, three years after it was established. She volunteered with Trinity in many areas, including traveling to impoverished countries to help build churches, inviting children from the Presbyterian Home in Lynchburg, Virginia to spend summers and holidays with her family, and serving as a church deacon.
Above all, she loved her family deeply and selflessly.
