Curtis was my manager for almost 20 years at the Smithsonian. He was the sort of boss and coworker most people only dream of having. Kind, supportive, smart, and so many other amazing qualities that made doing my job a pleasure. I will miss Curtis beyond measure and hope that his family find comfort in the memories they shared with him.
Curtis,
You may have left us, but you will be always in our hearts and minds. As we go through our daily routines, we will miss your presence immensely. You were a great colleague, but most importantly, a great person and wonderful friend to us all.
Our prayers go out Curtis’s family during the extremely difficult times.
Rest in Peace – our friend.
Working alongside Curtis for nearly two decades has been a joy; His calm and kindness make him an exceptional colleague and a great friend. We will miss him dearly. Our deepest sympathies are with Curtis’ family in their time of grief.
I knew and worked with Curtis for over 20 years, going back to my earlier days at the Smithsonian (SI). This is a true loss for SI. Curtis was knowledgeable, effective, helpful, kind, and truly a good person. I will always think of and remember Curtis fondly. I will miss him.
Curtis – even though you are no longer with us, but your humility, caring of people, a great sense of humor and trust will live on in our hearts. There are no words can truly describe our pain, sadness and a deep sense of loss. May you rest in peace. You will be missed.
I knew and worked with Curtis for over 22 years, going back to my earlier days at the Smithsonian (SI). This is a true loss for SI. Curtis was knowledgeable, effective, helpful, kind, and truly a good person. I will always think of and remember Curtis fondly. I will miss him. He is only supervisor I ever worked who was excellent technician as well as manager. He was excellent friend, supervisor and mentor. RIP !!!
My God what can I say about a man that no matter the ask, he provided guidance and resolution with a gentle heart. I work at Smithsonian, National Air and Space Museum and relied on Curtis heavily for many of my webTA issues and requests since about 2017 or so. I could always count on Curtis to take care of my request within 24 hours although majority of the requests were completed within minutes. He was always available and a pleasure to speak with. Heaven has gained an angel, and if I may leave my request for GOD, Lord I come to you with a humble heart and can only speak from my experience regarding your son Curtis. Lord, he displayed kind, gentle, and a loving spirit and I ask that my section in his heavenly resume will be a pleasing aroma to your nostril.
Rest my friend Curtis, Job well done.
Lord, I also pray that your comforting and loving arms will surround the family while they grieve and celebrate the life of Curtis.
In your son Jesus Name!
I have only known Curtis for about three years, but his charm, generous nature, and willingness to make a difference were felt from the start. I was not aware of his condition, so it was a shock to learn the terrible news. My condolences to the family, friends and colleagues. We will miss you dearly. RIP!
Curtis will be deeply missed. My favorite memory of him is the day we met. I was a kid bored at her mom’s office. He took the time to give me a task, shredding. The ripple effect he had on my life is immeasurable. I later started my career at SI because of his good reference. Working with him was always such a joy. His kindness, humor, and integrity will be missed every day. I know that his memory will be a comfort and blessing to all of us.
Curtis was my supervisor, but he was so much more than that. He was a mentor, a role model, and a dear friend. I know that he cared deeply about his family as well. I recall on many occasions when I put in leave requests for events involving my children he would approve it and tell me, “They are only little once.” These wise words that he gave me will forever echo in my heart. I am grateful for the time I knew him. RIP.
I first started to work with Curtis when our staff supported him. Then Curtis became our contracting officer representative. He has always been so nice, kind, responsive to our questions and request for Past Performance reviews. He gave our staff praises for their good work. We appreciate you so much and will deeply miss you.
