David L. Edwards

David L. Edwards died peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2007 at home in Vienna following a brief illness. He was a Group Leader and Network Systems Engineer at The MITRE Corporation. He was born in Jos, Nigeria in 1956 andlived there until 1969. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served eight years in the Army, including assignments at Fort Gordon and Fort Hood before his final assignment at the Pentagon. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sherrill C.J. Edwards; his mother, Myrtle Edwards of El Paso, Illinois; his sister, Rachel Gillespie of Omaha, Nebraska and his nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Edwards. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 22 at the First Baptist Church, 7300 Gary Street, Springfield, Virginia. Friends and family may call between 4:00 and 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 20 at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue, Vienna. In lieu of flowers, he asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Springfield.
