So very sad to learn of Del’s passing. The world has lost another of the great artists. My condolences to his family and friends.
Del and Elizabeth generously attended a celebration of the early career of Jane and Jim Henson at the University of MD in 06. Even in those few hours, Del’s humor, joy and clear sighted memories gave me insight into his career and well lived life. It was an honor to meet him. Lynnie Raybuck
Peace be with you.
Dear Ankers Family, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to each of you. Although we are not acquainted personally, however, we universally share the pain of losing a loved one in death. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away our loved ones. And when it happens, the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold our loved ones can be most difficult to bear. A key to enduring this suffering is knowing that the Bible teaches that “there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous” (Acts 24;15), our loved ones sleeping in the graves will come forth and have the opportunity to live forever under peaceful conditions right here on earth. (John 5;28,29; Rev. 21;3,4; Psalm 83;18) While grief at the loss of Del is great, joy at receiving Del in the resurrection will be greater. (Mark 5;42) Please read and find peace in God’s promises during this difficult time and the days to come. Take care,
This deeply saddens me, it was so great to meet Del the other day, he was a wonderful person. My deepest sympathies.
Del was a major part of my childhood. My family moved next door to him when I was four years old. I can remember countless summer days working with Del in his shop. He showed me all the inner workings of his tractors and how to use his vast array of tools. To this day I use the skills that I learned in his shop. I learned a lot more about life from Del than I ever did about mechanics. He was always happy to see me and I never heard him speak ill of anyone. His view on the world was always so positive he seemed to find beauty in everything around us. It wasn’t until recently did I find out that he was an artist. Artists Clear away the confusion so that the rest of us can see the beauty in everything around us. Thank You Del
Del’s wit, charm, and humility were truly inspirational. I feel privileged to have crossed his path.
Del was a great photographer and friend, and will be missed. my prayers are with all family and friends who feal the loss.
Del will be missed by many. I send condolences from the entire Blanche Ankers Clark Family. We will all miss Del and we know he is in a better place today. God Bless Randy
Del was a great photographer and a joy to know. I will always remember when attending the annual Ankers Picnic’s Del would be one of the photographers available to take the group picture. He always had such a great sense of humor towards everyone and would say smile, hold it, I don’t think I have any film in my camera, we have to take another picture. On behalf of myself, and my father Harry Pyrtle we send our sincere sympathy. God Bless You Del and may you rest in peace.
Del was a renaissance man. He never forgot a name. He was a generous supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was my friend and I will miss him.
Del was always a welcome presence in our office. For years it was an unusual “Goody Day” when Del did not stop by for a visit. His wit and charm will be missed by all.

I worked for Washington Gas as an editoral assistant from 1975-1979 and had all our Tri-X printing done by his commercial lab. What professional quality we got! I am just sorry I did not ever get to meet him in person.
