Denise, age 58, resided in Oakton, Va., died on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Loving wife of 13 years to Sam Bickford; devoted mother of Sarah Connolly and Adam (Taylor) Bickford; grandmother of Piper Bickford; sister of Linda (Richard) Spachtholz, James Fleming, Cheryl (Sam) King and Barbara (Harold) Fischer; daughter-in-law of Sam and his wife, Mary Bickford; sister-in-law of Ann (Tony) Fouse and David Bickford; She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Denise worked tirelessly at Oracle Corporation for 25 years as a Group Vice President and lived life to the fullest. She will be missed by all. Service private. The family requests donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of America, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6062, Albert Lea MN 56007-6662 in Denise Bickford's memory.

Sam and Sarah Anne – my heart breaks for you. Denise was an exceptional one of a kind person, women, wife, mother and friend. I am blessed to have had her as a friend,confidant and mentor. Her passing has left a hole in my life that can not be filled. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the days ahead.

My heart is heavy for your family. I got to know Denise during my last few years at Oracle and had deep respect for Denise. She was such a strong business woman and a good soul.

We were so sorry to hear of Denise’s passing. While I only worked for her a short period of time it didn’t take long to respect her dedication and professionalism. Early in my professional career, I had the good fortune to work for Denise. She was a model for capable and compassionate leadership. Denise was always a supportive colleague, although a manager, connected at a personal level. I am proud to have considered myself a friend of Denise’s for the past 13 years. We didn’t see one another often enough but we talked a lot and we played hard when we were in the same country! She was very dear to me and I will miss her. I will miss talking for hours on the phone at crazy times of the day and night about our teenage daughters (sorry Sarah Anne!); I will miss her fantastic sense of humour and her soft considerate heart; I will miss her company and her voice and I wish she were still here to tell me to shut the **** up.
