Dennis “Denny” “Goldie” Charles Goldsmith, peacefully passed away April 18, 2024, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, surrounded by close family.
Denny was born on April 5, 1944, in Arlington, Virginia to William Andrew Goldsmith and Margaret Theresa Hilleary. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother William “Buddy” and his sister Barbara Ann “Bobbie”.
Denny is survived by Roberta, his wife of 56 years, son James (Monica), daughter Julie Ramos, six grandchildren Hallie (Jordan) Durham, Kassandra Salazar (Kevin), James Goldsmith, Joseph Goldsmith, Kayla Goldsmith, Aiden Cordova and five great grandchildren Jordan Durham Jr., Amara Salazar, Josie Durham, Emma Salazar and Sofia Salazar. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard, Jerry (Christine), Stephen (Ann), along with many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Denny was a long-time resident of Vienna, VA where he was active in youth sports for as long as he was physically able to. For many years he coached local baseball, football, and softball teams. He instilled a love for sports in all who came in contact with him. When he wasn’t coaching, he was usually in the front row bleachers or standing on the sidelines always cheering and helping everyone. As the years went by and his health declined, he still managed to keep updated on games even if he had to sit in the car in the parking lot.
Following in his father’s footsteps and was a steamfitter for over 50 years where he was better known as “Goldie”. He was very proud to be part of the United Association Steamfitters Local 602 family.
Over the years he received numerous accolades for fishing and enjoyed hunting and playing golf with family and friends. He was a family-oriented man proud of his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids; his family will be privileged to tell stories about him for years to come.
