Dorothy (Dolly) Madigan Palfrey, 97, of Fairfax, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 11, 2017.

Born in Washington, DC, to the late John F. Madigan and Elsie Neitzey Madigan on April 15, 1920, she graduated with the class of 1938 from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. She worked for many years with the US Geological Survey in Clarendon.

Dolly will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by her three sons: Robert (Erika) of Dunn Loring, Virginia, Patrick (Faye) of Palm City, Florida, Wayne (Dale) of Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico; eight grandchildren: Heather Palfrey Walker (Joseph), Karen Palfrey Derakshanrokni (Nima), Megan Palfrey, Shelley Palfrey Hall (Chris), Patrick Ryan Palfrey (Amy), Andrea Palfrey, Phillip Palfrey, and Lauren Palfrey; three great-grandchildren: Olivia, Jenna, and Kaira; and many nieces and nephews.

Dolly was preceded in death by siblings Francis, Mary Catherine, Joseph, Thomas, Helen, Melvin and Bernard.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Avenue West, Vienna, Virginia. Funeral service will be at Money & King at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 18, 2017. Interment will follow in Columbia Gardens Cemetery of Arlington. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Arthritis National Research Foundation, for Osteoarthritis.
