My sincere condolences are extended to the family of Dr. Gordon Shahin.. I was associated with his brother Edward.
Uncle Gordon will certainly be missed. I have so many fond memories from picking stwberries at the house in Ohio, to visiting the Smithsonian and having an interview at the CIA to just chilling by the pool in Florida. Dad and I wish that we could be there with all of you to offer comfort and support. His first words when I told him were “How am I going to go?” and he cried when I explained we could not. We must take comfort in the fact that Uncle Gordon is no longer suffering. My condolences and sincere sympathy go out to you. Love and Prayers, Shelli
My favorite memory of Uncle Gordon is when I asked him to tell me about his work with the government, and his eyes just twinkled and he told me it was classified….and that was all I got to hear! I will so miss his wisdom, kind heart and generous spirit. May his memory be eternal, and may his family be comforted by their memories of this wonderful man.
Dear Aunt Charlotte and family: We are saddened by Uncle Gordy’s passing. He is at peace and no longer suffers. How fortunate we are that he took the time to visit us in New Brunswick. What a celebration we had! The Zed children loved getting to know him. Theirs was a contest in dialogue and education with him. They loved his wisdom and were all winners for knowing him. He is no doubt bringing Robbie up-to-date now and happy to be reunited with her. He had a full and wonderful life filled with so much pride in his dear children and grandchildren. We both have so many fond memories of Uncle Gordy. I relish our trips to the Exhibition in Toronto where you both had me hand in hand and escorted me on all the rides, and filled me with treats and took the time to take endless movies of me. And what fabulous summers I spent with you and all the ‘little’ Shahin’s on Garrett Avenue. Every chance he had he loved to ‘educate’ me in his world of intrigue, and intrigued I was. To Nancy, Gordon & Beth, hold him in your heart forever. He is very proud of you. I always found comfort in the foregoing when Aunt Dorothy passed away and I pass it on to each of you that you may find the same: “Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.” He has now entered his eternal rest and finished his race very peacefully. WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. MEMORY ETERNAL WITH OUR MOST PROFOUND SYMPATHY LEESHA & “SUZY”
Dear Aunt Charlotte,Gordy Jr, Mary Beth, Nancey & family It is with deep regret we learn of the passing of a legend. From his seriousness to his constant jokes Uncle Gordy will be remembered for ever. My fondest memory was when we went fishing at the cottage in Bewdely Ontario and we caught a Split Bamboo Fishing Rod, in Rice Lake, we never did get any fish as Uncle Gordy wanted to get back to the cottage to take apart, clean and oil the prize we found in the Lake and brag about what we had caught. I m sure he is watching over us all with Robbie, Uncle Sam, Aunt Dorothy, Jiddo & Sitto and all those gone before us. Until we meet again==May His Memory Be Eternal. May God Bless You and give you the strength to carry on. Kids, take care of your mother== Love Dickie & Barbara
