Elizabeth Ashdown Menezes

Elizabeth “Betty” Ashdown Menezes passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026.  She was born August 24, 1936, and raised in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY. In her early years she excelled in figure skating and began her lifelong love of the beach. She later became an accomplished classical pianist, became involved in various service organizations, and enjoyed a successful career after raising her children.

Above all, her boundless service, love and devotion to her friends, family and Christ leave a legacy of faith, kindness, and compassion. Elizabeth was preceded in death by Charles Edward Ashdown (d.1998). Their 43 year marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love, commitment, devotion, and fun.  She was married to Ignatius Menezes from 2002 until his death in 2018.She is survived by her children Bonnie Kotapish (Bill), Lori Ressler (Mark), Scott Ashdown (Mimi) and grandchildren Jay Gallihugh (Melissa), Elizabeth Filippone (Casey) Emily Salyer (Brandon) Jessica Lavalle (Adolfo) Joseph Kotapish, Michael Kotapish, Camden Ashdown, and Avery Rodriguez (Josh) and 9 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Vienna Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 10, at 12 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery.
