Elizabeth Joan Everett (1928 – 2025)

Joan Everett passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Born in 1928 in the United Kingdom, Joan was one of eight children of David & Ann Tait.

At age 25, Joan left the UK for the United States, sailing across the Atlantic on the SS United States – a ship that still holds the record for the fastest transatlantic crossing by an oceanliner.

While out dancing with friends in Washington, DC, she met Robert Everett. Their courtship was a whirlwind, and they married just six months later. Joan & Bob welcomed three children: David Andrew, Carol Ann & Kimberly Tait.

After settling in Vienna, Virginia, Joan became an active member of the local British women’s club, The High Teas, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Together, Joan & Bob shared a love of travel, exploring Europe and North America, and she also made several cherished trips home to the UK to visit family.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, several siblings and her beloved husband, Bob. She is survived by her three children – David, Carol Samson (Casey) and Kim – along with eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Joan was deeply loved by her family and friends, and her warmth, humor, grace and generous spirit will be remembered always.
