Flo and I share fond memories of Mrs. Ficklin at Wesley United Methodist Church. As an usher at the 11 a.m. service for a number of years, I could almost’set the clock’ by Mrs. Ficklin’s regular arrival. She came beautifully dressed and always with a smile and a cheerful greeting. She has been missed in recent years. Our condolences to her family.
I was very sorry to read about your Mother in this morning’s paper. My family and I extend our sincere sympathy to all of you on this sad occasion. Your Dad and my Paul were room mates in college. That is when I met your Mother. I have many wonderful memories of all our fun times together.
My sincere condolences especially to Mary K. who I know worked tirelessly to make sure Elizabeth spent her last years in comfort and peace, surrounded by those who loved her most. Elizabeth thought the world of you and was grateful for the times you shared together. Love, love, love to you!
John and Connie, You have my sympathy on the death of John’s mother. She clearly had a long life, but the passing of a parent – at any age – marks a milestone in our lives. God bless. (As a Vienna resident for nearly 15 years, I’m to the point in life where I glance at the Washington Post obituaries every day to make sure I’m not listed. The reference to Vienna and the Ficklin name both got my attention. I hope you and the family are all doing well.) Bill
I was very sorry to hear of Mrs. Ficklin’s death. As a long time friend of Mary K.’s, I have fond memories of the times that I spent at the Ficklin house on Lexington Street in Arlington. I will remember Mrs. Ficklin for her warmth and kindness. Marcia (Clough) Sheffler
We loved Betty very much and will miss her wonderful sense of humor and great consideration for everyone else. We spent many wonderful and fun times with both Betty and Bland. We will miss her immensely.
