Fiona MacDonald Berman

fiona berman

Fiona MacDonald Berman passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at the age of 69, with her daughters by her side.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 13, 1956, Fiona was raised in Falls Church, Virginia and later made her home in Reston with her husband David and their two daughters.

Fiona dedicated 37 years of her life working in finance for the Department of Defense, where she built a long and respected career. She was a strong and resilient woman who loved her family. She found happiness in the simple but meaningful moments of life-spending time together, tending to her garden, dancing, escaping to the beach, watching football, and playing with her dog Scotty.

Fiona was preceded in death by her beloved husband David in 2016, as well as her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Cassandra and Rebecca (Michael), her two beloved granddaughters, Rilyn and Ella, and her three siblings, Lorna, Cameron and Colin.

Fiona will be remembered for her strength, resilience, devotion, and the love she gave so generously to those closest to her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A private service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Park on Monday, October 12th at 12pm.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Fiona was my big sister, best friend and the person I looked up to most in life. She’d want to be remembered how she was before she got sick. I picture her in a hot pink sun visor sitting on the beach in heaven with Mommy/Nannie watching Daddy/Pop Pop kick a soccer ball with her nephew Marshall. Her beloved husband David teases that she’s using her visor to communicate with a space ship. I will never forget her.

  2. I worked with Fiona at OSIA and later DTRA over the years. She was always fantastic to work with and added a little ray of sunshine in everything we did. She will be missed. RIP

  3. Cassie, my dear friend….we are just so sorry that you’ve lost your mama. You loved and cared for her in the best ways and she knows how much you love her. All our love to you and your family. Sincerely, Dave and Lisa Merkel

  4. So sad to hear this. Our parents were friends and I have many childhood memories of the MacDonalds. We became friends on Facebook and I enjoyed catching up with Fiona. Condolences to all who knew her.

  5. Mrs. B, thank you for bringing Beckie into this world and for giving me the chance to find the love of my life. I will always cherish the time I spent living in the Berman family home, and the grace with which you welcomed me into your family. Rest in peace.

    With much love,
    Michael
