Francis "Buddy" Shoemaker was born in Washington D.C. on January 13, 1932 to Bessie and Thomas Shoemaker. He was among two sisters and a younger brother. His parents moved them to a farm in McLean, Virgina when Buddy was young. He graduated from Falls Church High School in 1951. Shortly thereafter, he joined the army and fought in the Korean conflict as a lead tank driver. He married Lucetta Ann Barnett and shortly after began a career with the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1988 and moved to Winter Haven, FL. Buddy leaves behind two sisters, Helen Hughes, Melva Sharpe; a brother: Elmer Shoemaker; and his daughter LuAnn Kubik and son-in-law Kevin Kubik.
Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church Lucerne Park where he was baptized, ordained and served as deacon. Buddy's health declined over many months and he moved to Morristown Tennessee in November, 2015 and briefly lived at Regency Retirement Community. Shortly thereafter, he became very ill and was rushed to University of Tennessee Medical Center Neuro ICU. He spent 11 days at Serenity Hospice House. It was there that Buddy went to be with Jesus on December 28, 2015, when he died peacefully with family beside him.

Grateful to have spent the last days with Dad. Wish we could have spent more but not in Gods plan. We are praying for family that was left behind and hearts that are in sorrow. Memories will always be with us when a loved one that was cherished and respected dies, but we know that we will see him again. What a wonderful expectation that is. Hopefully awaiting the day when we will reunited with the loved ones in Christ that have gone before us.
