Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. While “Granddad’s” body is no longer with us, his spirit and memory will forever burn bright in our hearts. I feel blessed that Joey was able to spend time with Granddad and Noni over the years. He truly loved them both. May God wrap his loving arms around you all and comfort you during your time of grief.

  2. I was sorry to learn of Ed’s death; though I knew he was desperately ill, I know it does not make it easier to lose him. I enjoyed Ed, who would visit my sister, Nona, and his brother, Paul Duvall, where we would often talk about his wonderful Golden Retriever. I have donated $20 in Ed’s name to the Golden Retriever Rescue of Virginia. Sincerely, Lynn Murray

  3. I met Ed where I met his younger brother, Paul, my husband, when I started working a summer job at Liberty National Bank at 15th and Eye St. in DC–I was 17 years old, and, of course, have loved him as a brother ever since. He was the only one who called his brother, “Hambone”, and although I never thought I would say this, I will miss that also. He was always upbeat, a true family man who dearly loved his wife and children, and a true friend. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren truly have a legacy to uphold.

  4. Uncle Eddie was such a sweet man. He always called me Polly even when I changed back to my given name Pauline. He was the only one who could get away with it because he was just so darn sweet and loving 🙂 He always had a smile on his face. I share his great love for animals. Kathy, Mark, Pat, Maryann, Michelle, Tim, Dad, and Aunt Peggy, we are thinking of you as your mourn this loss. We wish we could be there in person, but know that we are there in spirit and send our love and condolences. Much love, Pauline and Charles

  5. I’ll always see Uncle Eddie in my mind’s eye with a smile. Every single time I was around him he made me feel good. My father and he were close and were so good with each other. I’ll never forget him calling my father ‘Hambone’ and still not sure why, but I always thought it was cool. As far as I’m concerned it showed that special bond only those two can have. I will miss Uncle Eddie in person but he will always live in me. Love John Duvall

  6. I remember the same things about Uncle Eddie that my brother, John, and my sister, Pauline, said. He loved to tease; a lot of my grandmother’s nicknames were started by Uncle Eddie. Some of Meemaw’s nicknames that I remember are “Joe Boss” and “Potsie”. (I don’t remember how these nicknames were started, but I remember how much Meemaw used to laugh when Ed teased her.) I also remember his love for animals and how much animals loved him. I see the same thing with my son, Kyle. Kyle has definitely taken after his Great Uncle Eddie in his love of animals.
