George Arthur Craig died Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Fairfax, VA.
Born March 12, 1923 in Tacoma, WA and moved to Arlington, VA in 1937, he was a Marine from 1941 to 1945, landing on Wallis Island and serving on Guadalcanal. He earned a Bachelors in Physics at the George Washington University and a Masters in Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech.
George worked at MITRE as a Systems Engineer 1959-1992 with assignmentsat SHAPE Technical Centre (The Hague), SHAPE (Mons), NATO (Brussels), and other parts of Europe and the Far East. As a devout Episcopalian, he later served as a teacher, lay reader, Eucharistic Minister, and Verger. He and his wife moved from their home in Veinna, VA of 40 years to The Virginian in 2005.
George is survivd by his wife of 67 years, Marion E. Craig, their five children: James, John, Andrea, Elizabeth, and Christopher; and grandchildren: David, Connor, Pieter, Ethan. His sister, Olive, predeceased him.
