Graciela E. Mendizabal

Graciela E. Mendizabal died peacefully in Fairfax, VA. on Sept.15, 2015. She was born in Oruro, Bolivia on Dec. 13, 1921. She graduated from the Instituto de Comercio anexo a la Universidad Mayor de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia. She came to the United States with her children to join her husband, Reynaldo Mendizabal, an economist at the Inter American Development Bank in 1960. She was one of the founders of the Bolivian Ladies Association in the 1960s, which provides aid to many orphanages, hospitals, and nursing homes in Bolivia.
She is survived by her children, Oswaldo Mendizabal, Daisy Mendizabal Ishizuka,
Jacqueline Mendizabal Kress, her grandchildren, Michelle Farrar, Nicolas and Jennifer Kress, Erika Ishizuka, her great-grandchildren, Carson and Cole Farrar. Preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo, and her son Fernando Mendizabal (Q.E.P.D.). She was an honest, sincere, charitable, and kind person who was loved by her family and friends. She was the matriarch of our extended family in the United States and was highly respected by all who met her.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Celebration of her Life at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA. on Friday, Oct. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Road, Vienna, VA on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception and Interment at Fairfax Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.
