GUY W. FLEMING
August 16, 1947 - February 27, 2017
Guy William Fleming passed away on February 27, 2017, with his loving wife Sarah and family members at his side.
Guy was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 16, 1947. After graduating from Fordham University in 1969, Guy served in the U.S. Army for two years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1972, Guy began his career as a criminal investigator with the U. S. Treasury Department in New York City, later transferring to the headquarters office in Washington, DC, where, until his retirement in 1999, his responsibilities included oversight and support of investigative operations nationwide.
Guy was a man of many interests and accomplishments, but to those who had the privilege of knowing him, what most distinguished Guy was his goodness, compassion, and generosity. Before moving to the DC area, Guy dedicated several years to the Manalapan NJ Volunteer First Aid Squad, including serving as an EMT. Throughout his life, he was a devoted family man and friend, always being the first to volunteer his help whenever and wherever needed. No description of Guy Fleming, however, would be even remotely complete without noting his great wit and sense of humor and how it was such a joy to be in his company.
As Guy faced various medical challenges in his later years, he had to curtail some activities he enjoyed, but he never lost his zest for life. He channeled his energies into helping others, including programs at Inova Fairfax Hospital relating to organ transplants, and charitable activities at St. Veronica Catholic Church in Chantilly, VA.
In addition to Sarah, his devoted wife of 42 years, Guy is survived by his sisters, Christine Fleming Pascucci (John) of Jackson, NJ; Linda Fleming Kelley (Daniel) of Wynantskill, NY, and Judy Fleming (John Kohl), of Brooklyn, NY;, and his brother Farrell Fleming (Patricia). "Unken" Guy was very much loved by 7 nieces, 5 nephews, 8 grandnieces, and 6 grandnephews who would squeal with delight at being "sat upon" by their uncle.
Funeral services will be held at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA 22180, with viewings on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 3460 Centreville Road, Chantilly, VA 20151 at 11 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017, which will be followed by interment at National Memorial Park Cemetery, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
To honor Guy's memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to: Life With Cancer, 8411 Pennell St, Fairfax, VA 22031, which provides numerous free services to children and adult cancer patients and survivors, as well as their caregivers.

Some of my fondest memories of Guy was when he first came on the Job. We would do “A case” leads together in Brooklyn and always found time to stop in at an Ice Cream Parlor and sit and talk. It was always a pleasure to talk to or be with him. He had a great sense of humor and was always a Gentleman. I will miss him
Sarah, please accept my deepest sympathy. I worked with Guy in the 70s in NY. HE was always a gentlemen, and had a great sense of humor. Our Monday night basketball games were something to behold. Joe Lamonica
Guy was a true friend and a great co-worker for several years. I will miss him greatly.
Sarah and family, Being such close friends with Guy, we have to say that the obituary/tribute was a complete and perfect picture of the man we had come to know. We always looked forward to coffee, cookies, conversation as well as playing Phase 10 and LCR. We loved that he never met an Entenmanns product he didnt like! We didnt know him as well when he was an investigator with the Treasury Department but he must have been outstanding because of his amazing ability to remember everything! As a result, he didnt loose at Phase 10 very often, much to our dismay! He was devoted to his family and friends but mostly to his lovely wife Sarah. He was obviously well loved because he was always on the phone with family or a friend who called to check in on him or visa versa. He truly was a good and decent man, something very uncommon it seems. We miss him terribly but we know that his spirit will always be with us all. Doris and Michael Smith AKA Lo and Behold
Guy was a good man. He’ll be missed.
What I’ll remember most about Guy is his decency and his sense of humor. Always a pleasure to talk to, Guy had a unique perspective on life, and he never let his medical issues get him down. He’ll be sorely missed.
I enjoyed working with Guy for many years in Internal Security at the IRS National Iffice. May he Rest In Peace
Guy always made me laugh. When we were both still working, we would buy each other a lottery ticket for birthdays. We always dreamed of being millionaires! His friendship was worth a million to me. Rest in peace Guy!
Sorry for you loss Sarah. I only heard this am or I would have been there to represent my Father. Dan
Guy was a true friend who was always cheerful each and every time we talked. Guy called me each month about the monthly transplant program meetings. We always used this opportunity to talk at great length about retirement, health insurance and other topics of mutual interest. I will surely miss this wonderful friend. He was a gift to the world and his standards will be hard to duplicate.
I am truly sorry that I was unable to attend Guys viewing or funeral. For the family, my prays are with Guy wife and the family. This is a very sad time and Guy will be missed. I have very good fond memories of Guy. He was such a joy to be around. I loved talking to him. Loved his smile and laughter. I will cherish all of my moments and memories that I had with Guy. Guy, thank you so very much for your friendship. I will remember all the good times that I had with you. I know that Guy is with thee. Another angel above for all of us! God be with you, until we meet again, Best regards, Lynda McDonald coworker- Treasury IRS Inspection/TIGTA.
I’ll always fondly remember Guy’s visits to the Finance office at the IRS. No matter how bad your day was going, Guy could bring a smile to your face. He’ll be missed!
My deepest sympathies to Sarah and all of Guy’s family. I had the pleasure to work with Guy for a number of years in the Inspection/TIGTA National Office, and I know how he treasured his family. No doubt you have many happy memories of Guy to see you through these difficult times.
Although I had not spoken to Guy in 25 years, I have always remembered him as a genial and kind individual. We worked together at IRS, and he was a person to lift one’s spirits. That is a trait we should all have! My condolences to his family.
I miss him so, so much. My sweet husband. Always.
