Papaw when I found out that you had cancer my heart filled with tears That there was no cure for you was the answer to my fears To see you get worse day by day was something i couldn’t bare Remember that day I sit at your bedside holding your hand and spiking your hair I guess I shouldn’t leave out the green chapstick It looked a little funny but who cares it did the trick Your days were long and your nights were too We all were there on that cold November 4th morning when your pain and suffering ended for you I miss you so much part of me has died But I know you are now with grandmaw 2 angels side by side At least I have the memories of days gone by It makes it a little easier but still I cry For I will miss the little things as you being so honest with me As you asking have you put on some weight honey When I look at my dad I see your eyes Even through all the redness and tears that he crys I appreciate the love you gave me And serving our country in your history So I send you this salute on this sad thursday With an oh-boy my beloved papaw in my heart is where my love for you will stay You didn’t need to go to heaven to get wings, for you were born with them I love you and I miss you so much papaw P.S. Dear Dad, It’s been an honor being in your family all these years This is hard to write through all the tears You had the title of Father-in-law After our children were born I called you Papaw In my Husband, I do see A man like you I think he’ll be You were a great man No doubt in my mind We have our memories, but you left a lot of yours behind You remembered the sandwich you made for Neil You didn’t cut it right so he threw it in the floor and crushed it with his heel Just once you spanked him, he cried and cried and said Papaw I’m going to tell my Mommy and Mamaw I know you had your memories of Deanna, Neil III and Laken You loved all your Grandchildren There’s no mistaken You lived with us for a short while I’m really going to miss your smile Remember at dinner you dropped your bread Two dogs thought they had got lucky, but you grabbed it instead They sat there beside you hoping you would drop crumbs You were such a good eater you would leave none At times you would struggle with the gate On the other side both dogs couldn’t wait To hear you say here comes Papaw Knowing they would have to move somewhere else so you wouldn’t fall I’m sure they wonder where’s that man Who wouldn’t give up any of his food not even from his hand With your walker you’d go outside With only 2 steps, afraid you would fall I was terrified I will miss you walking up and down the sidewalk Getting back to your chair we would have some good talks You’re gone to that great place up in the sky Tell Mom and Mamaw we’ll try not to cry Your son and I and Grandchildren too Want you both to know we love and miss you Your Daughter-in-law Loretta

I’m so sorry about what has happened to you and your family.It is called a tragedy but I may say it happens all the time every where and I know it is not easy to bear.We shall come together and pray for you and your famiy and I believe THE LORD GOD will have mercy upon his soul and give him peace in his rest.May GOD give you heart to go through it. Dear Neil, Linda, Jackie and our beloved Son-in-Law Keith, our deepest sympathies go with you and your family today as we say good-bye to Pop Lilly. He brought such joy to us on each and every occasion we were together. After he met us for the first time, and ate Thanksgiving dinner with us, he was really glad his son had “hooked up with this outfit”! Dear Neil,Linda,Jacqueline,and Keith, The loss of your Father is a void that cannot be filled. I will remember the warmth and kindness of the love he gave to us.
