Helen Dorothy Uhrin

Helen D. Uhrin died on June 18, 2011 at her place of residence in Vienna, VA. Ms. Uhrin was born in Eckley, PA in December 1924. She was the only daughter of John and Helen Uhrin. Ms. Uhrin graduated from Foster Township High School in Freeland, PA in 1942. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC where she was employed by the Civil Service Commission. At the Civil Service Commission, Ms. Uhrin worked as an administrative assistant to Civil Service Commission Chairman John Macy for many years. Later in her career Ms. Uhrin worked as a member of the legislative liaison staff at the Office of Congressional Relations at OPM.
After her retirement, Ms. Uhrin served as a volunteer with many community organizations including Wolftrap, the Kennedy Center, and Epiphany Byzantine Catholic Church. She was also a member of several choral groups in Northern Virginia. Ms. Uhrin was a founding member of St. Gregory's Byzantine Catholic Church in Washington, DC in 1956. After moving to Vienna, VA, she became a member of Epiphany Byzantine Catholic Church in Annandale, VA. Survivors include a number of cousins and many close friends.
