Helen E. Sale
November 24, 1918 ~ June 5, 2016
Helen E (Knight) Sale, 97, of Oakton, VA and formerly of Pasadena MD, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 5, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Daniel M. Sale, and her brother,
Ralph S. Knight of Shawnee, OK. Helen was born on November 24, 1918 in Shawnee, OK, the oldest child to Ralph P and Zella (Sympson) Knight.
Helen grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1940. She was a long standing member of the American Dietetic Association. She moved to Florida a few years later to work as a
registered dietician where she met her husband, Dan. While raising a family, she also worked part-time as a dietician and was active in American Association of University Women (AAUW) and volunteered with
Meals on Wheels. Helen enjoyed reading mystery novels, playing scrabble, and solving crossword puzzles. She never let the challenges in life hold her back. When it became difficult for her to hear people on the phone, she adapted to the computer at the age of 80 so she could keep in touch with people via e-mail and Facebook.
Helen is survived by her three children, Linda Dodson and her husband, Hal, of Oakton, VA, Marian Bellis of Newark, DE, and Richard Sale and his wife, Teresa, of Tolland, CT. She had five grandchildren, Katie
Dodson, Christine Bellis Ballantyne and her husband Sam, Stephen Bellis, Glenn Sale and Becky Sale; and two great grandchildren, Jayden and Layla.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 17 from 3-4 pm at Money & King, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna, VA 22180. The burial will occur on Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at Flint Hill Cemetery, Oakton, VA followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Money & King Funeral Home.
