Mr. Howard Paul Guerber passed away on February 19, 2021 at the age of 94. His wife, Mrs. Marion Bretherton Guerber, also passed away on January 15, 2022 at the age of 89.
Howard was born in Rifle, Colorado, the youngest of two children, and grew up in Denver. He attended the University of Colorado on the Navy V12 program, where he studied Electrical Engineering. After college he went in to the Naval Reserves, where he was called to active duty in 1951, and served in the Mediterranean on the destroyer USS Holder. Howard moved to Pittsburgh to work as an electrical engineer for Westinghouse, and subsequently moved to Camden, NJ, to work for RCA. While working for RCA, Howard received four patents, and helped to develop BIZMAC, the first electronic computer built by RCA.
Marion was born and raised in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, the youngest of six children. She attended Bryn Mawr College, where she studied Spanish and French. She was always proud of her educational achievement, and became a life long member of the American Association of University Women, supporting education for women around the world.
Howard and Marion met through a church youth organization and were married in 1962. Both were lifelong adherents of the Christian Science church, and were devoted to their faith. They moved to Washington DC in 1972 for Howard to take a job with the Mitre Corporation, where he worked for the remainder of his career. They were early members of the Christian Science church in McLean, VA, and remained members for the rest of their lives.
They are survived by their sons, Jeffrey Reynolds Guerber and Eric Martin Guerber, and their three grandchildren, Matthew West Guerber, Jonathan Addison Guerber, and Claire Elizabeth Guerber.
A memorial service will be held at Money and King funeral home in Vienna, VA, on June 17, 2024 at 7:30 PM. Their ashes will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery on June 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to First Church of Christ Scientist, McLean, to The Mother Church, to the University of Colorado Boulder (Howard, ’47), or to Bryn Mawr College (Marion, ’54).

Behram P. Shroff in grateful memory of Howard Guerber and marion Guerber
Thanks for sharing that brief review of their lives. I always had a warm place in my heart for both Uncle Pabby (Howard) and Aunt Marion. I will miss them both and wish I had been able to visit with them more often.
