Isabelle Davis
February 19, 1934 ~ January 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts but with immeasurable gratitude for her life that the family of Isabelle Davis, 91, announces her peaceful passing into eternal life on January 13, 2026.
Born on February 19, 1934, to Mary and George Wellendorf, Isabelle grew up in small town Canfield, Ohio. She graduated from Canfield High School where she was involved in many activities including performing as a majorette in the marching band! She attended Wittenburg College for one year, then transferred to Ohio State University.
Her transfer to OSU was a serendipitous decision, as that’s where she met the love of her life, Rick Davis, on a blind date. They married on June 28, 1958 and began their life in the Navy where Rick served as a Naval Aviator. After 9 years of Naval service and many moves, Rick left the Navy to begin his long career as a pilot for American Airlines, and the family, which now included two children, Leslie and Brad, settled in Vienna, VA.
Isabelle taught school for a few years when Leslie and Brad were young, then became a full time homemaker and quickly became involved in the Vienna community. She served in many capacities at Vienna Presbyterian Church, which the family began attending in 1967. She served as Elder, Clerk of Session, Circle Leader, Sunday School and Adult Bible teacher, Evangelism Ministry chair and President of Presbyterian women.
Her community involvement reached beyond VPC as she was a member of the DAR, Questers and Historic Vienna, serving as a docent at the Freeman House.
Isabelle’s greatest legacy will be the countless people whom she touched with her grace, her kindness and her unwavering love of God. Her quiet faith spoke volumes to those around her. Her faith, determination and amazing spirit shone through her entire life, and especially in the last few years as she bravely fought so many seemingly insurmountable health issues. She faced them with endless determination, without complaint, and with beautiful grace.
Her legacy of love lives on in her beloved husband of 67 years, Rick, and their children Leslie (Paul) Johnson and Brad Davis; her two grandsons Ian Davis (Elizabeth) and Connor Davis (Liz); and she joyfully welcomed her great granddaughter Ella (daughter of Connor and Liz) just a few months ago. She also leaves behind her beloved sister Nancy Kochert, and much loved nieces and nephews Allison Long, Mark Kochert, Diane Davis, DeeDee Fife and Rick Davis.
A service of love and remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 1:00 p.m. in the Vienna Presbyterian Church Sanctuary.
Isabelle requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation – www.arthritis.org or Fancy Cats Rescue- www.fancycats.org
