James E. Christensen, Jr.

James "Jim" E. Christensen, age 66, of Vienna, Va., died on Friday, January 27, 2012. Jim was a devoted and loving son, husband, father and especially dedicated "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren. He was passionate about cars, golf, the New York Yankees and his country. He had a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed by many as he never met a stranger. Jim was a 1967 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. During his military career, Jim served as a United States Air Force Counterintelligence Officer and as a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations. He later founded a consulting firm, Capital Systems Resources, Inc. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia Christensen of Arlington; his wife of 42 years, Vicki; his son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Jody Christensen and grandsons, Cole, Blake and Tyler of Vienna; his daughter and son-in-law, Aline and Eric Major and grandchildren, Ryan, Bryce and Lauren of Tampa, FL; brothers, John Christensen and family of Hollywood, MD., and Thomas Christensen and family of Davenport, IA., and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in his honor to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Vicky & Kids, I am privileged to have know Jim. We enjoyed many golf moments together. Laughing at his swing, organizing tournaments, hanging with the guys and supporting Madison in what ever way he could. I thank him for sharing his family with me. He was a good friend, and I am saddened by his passing. You have my deepest condolences

I learned of Jim’s death this morning. He was a good friend and co-worker and a true gentleman. The world we live need people like Jim and his death is a loss to our country and his family and friends. My sympathy to his family and my God bless you all during this time of sorrow.

Jim was a great brother in law that always made my wife Jackie,our boys Jake and Mike, and I feel like we were all one big happy family. Holiday visits were always fun thanks to Jim. Our boys were proud to call him Uncle. We will miss him !

I am so sorry that Jim has died and at such a young age. I know that he will forever live in your hearts. I’m also sorry that Jim’s and my paths didn’t cross in our USAF careers. I would have loved to have known him in his life after high school. Please know that Jim will be in my heart and in the hearts of his FHS classmates in our upcoming 50th reunion. Jim will be missed.
