Guestbook

  1. My Dad was a very proud son of West Virginia. His accomplishments were many and he strived to make this world a better place. He treated everyone equally with kindness and respect. He was not only my Dad but he was my buddy and we shared many interests. We had a joke that if he said JUMP I was supposed to say HOW HIGH? I only hope it was high enough. I love you Dad. God Bless You and may you be at peace with your family gone home before you. Jamie

  2. I had such a crush on my Uncle Jim..He was a police officer and amazing detective. When I first met him in the 70’s, his side burns were a little longer, he wore those cool, side zipper ankle boots, had those dreamy Elvis eyes and he smelled of Old Spice. I remember telling Aunt Nancy, “Please marry him or I will!” because he was just like Jim Rockford.

  3. Dear children of jim….He was a wonderful man and loved calhoun County….He was like my brother coming to our house growing up ,he was friends with my brother….Hugs and prayers….Remember the good times

  4. I am Jim Riddel’s 4th of 6 children. Being right in the middle, you can sometimes wonder where you fit in. I’m not the first born or the baby, but whenever I talked to my Dad, I knew exactly who I was! I’m Jim Riddel’s daughter, the sensitive daughter. He knew that what he did for one child might not work for the other, and handled us each as individuals. I could call him day or night and he’d be there for me. I love my Dad so much and I will forever miss hugging him, holding his hand, sitting in his lap if I needed comfort, and especially our late night phone calls. He was very special to me and I know I was special to him. God Bless you, Daddy. You are safe now and have no more pain or struggles.

  5. I wanted to send you our deepest sympathy. I know it is difficult time but he gave us all some great memories. A truly wonderful man! He took me under his wing and treated me as one of his own. I am forever thankful to him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The Walker Family

  6. To Jim’s Family – I’m writing on behalf of my mom, Mary Dunn, my brother Gary and myself. We all thought your dad/husband was a great man. He was a good friend to mom and dad and was so helpful when dad passed away. He will be missed, but remembered with love. Pam

  7. Please except my sincere sympathy for the loss of your loved one. It’s been over 40 years since I first met Jim. We always called him “Detective Riddle”. Jim was very instrumental in helping me turn my life around as a young hard-headed teen. I’ll never forget how he helped me or the words of wisdom he shared with me. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

  8. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Jim was a very knowledgeable and caring friend. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and law enforcement.

  9. On behalf of the Cromarty family, our deepest condolences in the loss of this dear man who gave so much of his life to help others. Rest in peace, Jimmy.

  14. I considered Jim my adopted grandfather (even though he wasn’t old enough to be my grandfather). He treated me like like one of his home, and my family like his family. I loved to talk politics with him, and he loved hearing about my boys. He will be greatly missed. My family and I offer our condolences to Nancy and the children. You are in our prayers. Rest in peace, Jim. We love you.

  15. Mr. Riddel will always be my hero. My words will fall short of what he really was. Everyone who knew him knew a real life legend. I am grateful to have known him and that my children were able to meet him too. Rest in Peace My Friend.

  18. I have always been proud to claim you as my brother. We were kindred spirits and loved Calhoun County so much. As adults we ran all over the county remembering the things we did as children. I’m so thankful to the Lord that you are free from pain and at peace and with your family that has gone on before you. I love you very much. Your sister, Edie Lou Butler

  19. To the Children of Jim: I have so many fond and loving memories of Jimmy (He will always be “Jimmy” to me). He was so thoughtful, loving, and patient…truly Precious and Irreplaceable!
