Jason Louis Emilo
November 2, 1977 ~ December 12, 2022
t is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jason Emilo (“Jay”) on December 12, 2022. His absence has left a hole that will never be filled but holds so many memories.
Jason was born November 2, 1977, in Middlebury, Vermont, to Louis Emilo Jr. (Mick) and Susan Sisters (Susie). He graduated from The Hill School (Pottstown, PA) in 1996, where he excelled academically and athletically, making friends that would last his lifetime and beyond. Jay went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Hobart College. Moving to Burlington Vermont after graduating, Jay met his future wife, Stephanie. Though they parted ways as careers took them in different directions, they later reconnected in DC, where Jay completed his master’s degree at Georgetown University.
Jay was always up for an adventure and jumped at the opportunity to join Brunsfield International, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He moved his growing family abroad, sharing his love of travel with them, which brought him immeasurable joy. Whether sampling Durian, munching on Chicken Feet, or caving in Bali, Jay lived life to the fullest, embracing each adventure. After 3 years abroad the pull to be closer to family was strong, so they relocated to Vienna, Virginia. Most recently Jay was the Vice President of Investment and Development with Moss Building and Design.
Oliver and Sebastian were Jay’s biggest accomplishments, he could (and often would) talk about them for hours recounting accomplishments both on teams and academically. Jay happily shared his love of sports with his boys and if not coaching one of them, was on the sidelines as much as possible, cheering them on or figuring out how to see them via video stream. Jay could often be found reading in his sons’ classes, attending school events, and staying involved with his children everywhere he could.
Jason was predeceased by his parents, Mick and Susie Emilo, his brother Brett, and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his wife Stephanie; sons Oliver (11) and Sebastian (8); brothers Christopher, and Anthony (Tony) Emilo; seven first cousins, aunts, uncles, nine nieces and nephews, and too many friends and surrogate parents to name. Together they created so many memories that they loved to recount when they gathered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westwood Country Club Ballroom (Vienna, VA) on Saturday February 4th (11am- 2pm). A second gathering and casting ceremony will be planned for Vermont in the late summer. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the boys educational future (www.ugift529.com Codes: J9U-42B and Z5C-W5R).
So many people have shown up to support Stephanie, Oliver, and Sebastian and the response is a true testament to the good in their community. The overwhelming response from the boys’ sports clubs and their families has further cemented the importance Jay placed on sports building character and community. He understood firsthand the lifelong bonds those relationships brought with them.

The second sentence says it all: “His absence has left a hole that will never be filled but holds so many memories.” All of my memories of Jason are as a coach to his sons. I hope I can one day approach the passion he had for teaching and passing on knowledge to those around him. Gone from us way too soon. I will truly miss him.
We are so thankful for the time we had with Jay. He was a true part of our lacrosse family, and we will always remember how invested he was, and our children and our family. We will remember him always. The Halls
Steve & Linda Revell So sorry for your loss. Jason was like another son for us
