Jean L Drew
January 19, 1943 ~ July 21, 2026
On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, JEAN L. DREW of Fort Washington, MD, passed peacefully after a courageous journey with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital. Born on January 19, 1943 in Rocky Mount, NC, she graduated from Norfolk State College in 1960. Upon graduation from college, she moved to Washington, D.C. and became an educator at both Frank W. Ballou High School and Eastern Senior High School for almost 30 years.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas Drew for over 59 years, and the loving mother of Lori Drew and Patrice Drew. Jean will be remembered for her strength in character, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family.
Though she will be deeply missed, Jean’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she faithfully served, and the countless lives she enriched. May her memory forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved her. An inurnment (immediate family only) will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, VA. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Virginia Hills Church, 6507 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory would be appreciated in support of AdoptAClassroom.org or the COPD Foundation.
